SG Amendment 43 Q&A
#1
The council asked what we think about Amendment 43 for Red Snapper. I could not find a way to reply and decided to start a new thread on the topic.

I support Alternative 5.

We should consider setting up a tagging program to coincide with any openings to collect much needed data.

We should also educate fishermen about the best release methods that increase survival rates and reward compliance with lower discard mortality projections.

I have provided a on the record comment for amendment 43 and agree with you Chris.
What ever option for ABC of Red Snapper the council chooses it will be a beginning to bring back the Red Snapper fishery.
It must be opened to Hook and Line fishing just to obtain data for the council to monitor and manage.
It should never have been closed.

Thanks for joining the discussion Jimmy. This forum has the potential to be a very useful tool for permit holders. Do you have any suggestions on making the forum more user friendly? There are still a few bugs like starting a new discussion and making posts appear immediately that need to be worked out.
